A lot of leadership work happens in the less comfortable spaces. This week’s reflections explore what we miss when we stick to what’s familiar and what becomes possible when we look again.

1️⃣ Honouring the great Clem Sunter.

Clem Sunter was one of South Africa’s great scenario planners, and people – sharp-minded, globally respected, and just wonderfully human.

In his regular ‘Business Unusual’ slot on 702 yesterday, Graeme shared some of the impact Clem had on himself personally – remembering his infectious laugh, his humble genius, and the generosity with which he shared ideas (whether over lunch or on a stage). Clem helped so many of us see that the future isn’t something we predict; it’s something we prepare for and, where we can, something we choose.

His “high road / low road” framing will always be relevant – so a reminder to look for the “flags” – the signals and pivot points and then to deliberately choose the high road, even when it’s the harder path. Rest in Peace, Clem, and thank you for making our world a better place.

2️⃣ The Lost Wedding Ring by Keith Coats.

We don’t avoid hard questions on purpose. We just tend to look for answers in places that feel familiar.

The language we already know. The approaches that worked before. The parts of the conversation that are well-lit and easy to stand in.

In this week’s article, Keith uses a simple story to explore what happens when the things that matter most sit in less comfortable spaces – where certainty fades, experience stops helping, and there’s no obvious next step.  You can read his full reflection here…

3️⃣ The Enhanced Games.

Faster, higher, stronger – the Olympic motto that inspires the best athletes to push themselves to the limit. But what if we changed where those limits are? What if we allowed humans to not just rely on good genetics and intensive training, but also on chemical, medical and biomechanical enhancements?

The team at The Enhanced Games are aiming to answer this question in a few weeks’ time in Las Vegas. Here’s Graeme’s latest video update…

4️⃣ Join Dean at the Super Speaker Showcase in Birmingham on Monday, 9 March 2026.

If you’re in the UK and your role includes securing impactful speakers for your organisation’s conferences or people development, we’d love to invite you to the Super Speaker Showcase taking place in Birmingham on Monday, 9th March.

Dean will be sharing a short, high-energy session on Thriving in a BANI World – and a practical leadership response, alongside these 10 brilliant speakers.

Our team has a limited number of VIP tickets for the event, so if you or someone you know would like to attend, please connect with Caryn to reserve a seat.

5️⃣ Moltbook – the signal, not the story.

With the AI hype-train starting to feel out of control, our team at TomorrowToday will keep being your voice of sanity – not amplifiers of the noise.

Graeme’s reflections on the Moltbook episode here, and here, are a useful reminder: what we’re watching isn’t “the singularity” so much as engagement-optimised systems reproducing the worst of our incentives at machine speed. Another Grey Elephant, as highlighted in our recent Strategic Alert.

If AI is overwhelming you and you’re not sure where to start, book one of our team to share our From AI to IA framework – a practical way to cut through the hype and focus on real value. Just hit reply if you would like more details on that.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on any of the above 5 resources.
