One of our team’s favourite quotes is this:
“The rate of change today is the fastest it has ever been.
The rate of change today is the slowest it is ever going to be.
Which of these statements worries you more?”
From geopolitics to local communities, from new competitors to business model innovations, technologies that automate to younger generations that irritate, we see evidence of deep structural change all around us.
And if you think 2025 has brought disruption, 2026 is going to say, “hold my beer”.
Here are some of the major trends and disruptions that our team believes will be shaping the world in 2026:
- More dramatic, direct impact of climate change, with insurance companies starting to exclude climate-related damage, airlines experiencing more frequent delays and disruptions, more food and water insecurity, and the beginnings of a new wave of climate refugees impacting global migration of people.
- The bursting of the AI hype bubble in many industries that are struggling to see real world applications (a recent MIT report showed that 95% of current AI initiatives are failing).
- And at the same time, some jaw dropping advances in industries where generative AI data analytics has actually been making a real difference.
- Trust will become even more important as a business and personal asset, with an emphasis on cyber security, data integrity and the ability to distinguish between real and fake information.
- The rising rage of poorer and middle class people around the world, as their standard of living continues to drop and they feel even more pressure, will continue to drive cultural discourse and politics around the world.
- The realisation that it is impossible to “keep up” with the pace of the world using our current systems and approaches, and the need to change how we work.
With all these significant forces of change bearing down on us, it should be obvious that we can’t just keep doing what we’ve always done.
In fact, it’s no longer enough to even improve our existing systems. We really are reaching a point where we need structural changes – this is true of the big systems we live in, but just as true for our workplaces, our teams, our families, and our own lives.
We could resign ourselves to just getting on with our lives and work, keeping our heads down and hoping these big forces of change don’t disrupt us – personally – too much. We understand that impulse.
But 2026 won’t be that kind.
We are each going to be impacted by change, and we must each prepare for what that means.
At TomorrowToday, we know that in moments of deep structural change, the correct response – by teams and individuals – is to seize the opportunities that change brings. These are rare opportune moments when those who are prepared to get ahead of the chaos – rather than just waiting for it to arrive.
But to do so requires a mindset shift, and a toolkit to deal with change of this magnitude.
This is what our year-end virtual workshop is all about.
Our lead futurist, Graeme Codrington, has specially designed a 45 minute virtual workshop, presented live from his high-tech studio, filled with insight, interaction, a solid dose of laughter and energy, all wrapped in layers of practical wisdom, to help you and your team set yourselves up to thrive in 2026.
And because action matters: the first five bookings secure a special discounted rate.
In this session you’ll learn how to:
- NOT be surprised by the big disruptors we can anticipate in the next 12 months (Graeme will share what our team at TomorrowToday thinks will happen next year)
- Be confident in your ability to deal with whatever actually happens
- Upskill and future proof yourself
- Improve your wellbeing and effectiveness – by focusing on the things you can control and learning how to let go of those you can’t.
- Leverage technology to be your intelligent assistant in 2026.
It’s just 45 minutes, but it will set your team up with the right attitude and approach to 2026, and leave you excited, and equipped, to tackle the year ahead.
