Late last year, Graeme Codrington’s youngest daughter, Rebecca, passed away after an extended fight with lupus.

What followed was an extraordinary outpouring of care and compassion from people around the world. It became deeply clear that Rebecca, and Graeme, have touched many lives – and that human connection really does travel far beyond contracts, countries, or calendars.

And then, yesterday morning, a package arrived at the Codrington family home.

It was sent by iTOO – one of Graeme’s long-standing clients in the insurance industry. They specialise in complex insurance, including fine art. And they had commissioned one of South Africa’s leading artists, Marion Fuchs, to create a portrait of Rebecca.

It is breathtaking.

A deeply thoughtful, profoundly human gesture.

But then, this is who they are – from CEO Justin Naylor to the people team led by Tovè Sithole, iTOO is a company infused with considered humanity and intentional relationships.

This is what happens when clients become friends – and when life is bigger than business.

As we help leaders navigate AI, disruption, and the future of work, the conversation keeps circling back to this simple truth: technology may change what we do, but being human will always shape how we do it – and why it matters.

A gesture like this goes so far because it acknowledges something we’re often afraid to name at work: that we are whole human beings, not just roles, titles, or outputs.

In a world that’s getting faster, more automated, and more transactional, these ‘human’ moments truly remind us why ‘being human’ still sits at the centre of everything that works.

To the iTOO team – there are no words. Thank you!
