Is there something wrong with me if I start to look forward to the Saturday rugby game on Monday already? And now it’s Friday and I really can’t wait. And I normally don’t really even know the players that are not good enough to make the Bulls’ team. But somehow this green team is glueing me to the television….
Amazing what winning can do to your team, the individuals in the team, the supporters, customers, sponsors and brand.
Does anyone have a story of a truly magnificent, winning team he/she has been part of? Sport, business, community – doesn’t matter which kind of team – but let’s hear those stories…
Have you noticed that since we’ve been winning, there’s been no outcry over quotas or administration or the coach’s imminent demise or politics of any nature. Brian van Rooyen has had his heart ripped out in a report that details his horrible corporate governance… and yet, its hidden in an obscure corner of the metro pages.
Always make sure the good news is more sensational than the bad!
The same thing is happening in the UK with the cricket. About 3 years ago cricket was in crisis. England was losing all the games, the kids did not want to play the game, the sponsors did not want to sponsor and the people were not buying tickets. But now, for the first time in 18 years England may actually win the ashes, and tickets have long been sold out, there is a national debate about the fact that the cricket board sold television rights to Sky and not the BBC (national televisions broadcaster) and kids are playing cricket in the parks and on the village greens in the evenings.
