“People are not embodied theories”
From the perspective of psychology, what you see is seldom what you get. Rather, the ways we interact and engage in personal/professional relationships are constantly fuelled and shaped by underlying personality constructs rooted in our personal development.
My role is very often to work in making these undercurrents more explicit, to allow for a greater sense of congruency in individual’s lives and in team dynamics. By recognizing that our behaviour and interactional approach is drawn from and tinted by personal worldview, we can more objectively recognize that others too have their own lenses.
This ability to objectively evaluate situations creates the opportunity to learn from others worldviews and use them to bring out the best in others and ourselves.
