Leadership“If you find what you do each day seems to have no link to any higher purpose, you probably want to rethink what you’re doing. says Ronald Heifetzthe Founding Director of the Center for Public Leadership at the Harvard Kennedy School and the leading global authority on the practice of adaptive leadership.
Change is the now the new normal in every industry. Successful leaders recognise that the winners of the 21st century focus the energy and commitment of their organisation on building a culture of resilience and adaptability. This requires not only being comfortable with but also embracing continuously change in the ever-evolving landscape of competitive relevance and advantage.
However, as Heifetz points out, continuous change and being adaptable is not enough. The leaders and organisations who achieve exceptional results are not only accomplished at being adaptable, but are also driven by a higher purpose. In my latest book Quest: Competitive Advantage and the Art of Leadership in the 21st Century; I share inspirational stories of  future focused leaders who are implementing bold audacious plans, delivering significant benefits and challenging the impossible. These leaders are rewarded with competitive advantage and dominant leadership positions.
There are a number of compelling reasons for this; quests are powerful forces of adaptive and continuous change because:

  • Quests strive to make the impossible, possible
  • Quests are inspirational
  • Quests attract, talent. Leaders on a quest discover that there is never a shortage of talented applicants often willing to offer their time and expertise.
  • Quests are empowering
  • Quests deliver meaningful and significant benefits to the world the organisation touches and influences

If you want to be a successful and adaptive leader, discover how a new breed of inspirational questers are using the power of quests to gain competitive advantage and drive the change agenda.
