Today is Nelson Mandela’s Birthday. 93 years old. The only person that the United Nations has dedicated a day to. 18 July is known as Nelson Mandela International Day.
How does one even begin to reflect on who he is, what he stands for and what he means to millions and millions of people around the world? I’m not even going to attempt to find words to describe Nelson Mandela’s influence on the world. Except perhaps to remind you that if you’d like to honour him with a present today, all he asks is that you spend 67 minutes making someone else’s life a better life. It’s not a lot to ask. It’ll certainly make a difference. That’s all he’s asking. That you make a difference tomorrow in the celebration of our inter-connected humanity.
